Comparison

Blastack or Speakap

Speakap has spent years doing what we do — internal communication for a deskless workforce — and does several things better: an own-brand app, alerts on the phone, and machine translation. What we do is publish the price and not tie anyone in for a year. Here it is row by row.

Of 12 rows, Speakap wins 5 and we win 5.

Who Speakap are

Speakap is a European internal communication platform built from the start for the deskless workforce, with customers in retail, hospitality, manufacturing and logistics. They describe themselves on their own site as one hundred per cent European, and they publish the full feature list of all three plans, which is a good deal more than the sector average publishes — even if the price isn't on it.

They are a serious competitor with real mileage, and they are ahead of us on half of this table. What follows is the comparison we'd want put in front of us if we were the ones buying.

Row by row

The table, with who wins each row

Published price

Blastack

Blastack

€1.00 per person per month for the base plan, plus ten modules costing between one and ten cents each: with all of them switched on, €1.28. There's a calculator on the site.

Speakap

They publish the three plans and what each one includes, but not the price: they say it depends on the plan and the number of people, and point you at a quote.

Contract length and tie-in

Blastack

Blastack

A monthly contract, no minimum term and no exit penalty. There is an annual cycle — twelve months for the price of ten — but it's an option, not a requirement.

Speakap

Their website says all contracts are annual, with a one-year minimum.

Mobile app and alerts

Speakap

Blastack

A web app you pin to the home screen. Not in the stores, and no offline use. Browser notifications are built, but they are switched on with keys on the server and on iPhone they need the app pinned, iOS 16.4 or later.

Speakap

A mobile app carrying your brand on the Premium plan, and push notifications on every plan.

Languages and translation

Speakap

Blastack

The interface is in twelve languages — English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Swedish, Dutch, Polish, Romanian and Czech — and each person sees the whole app in theirs. Posts are written in those same twelve. What we do not do is machine-translate what you publish: whoever publishes writes every version.

Speakap

Machine translation into more than a hundred languages from the Premium plan up.

Integrations and HR systems

Speakap

Blastack

HR system sync, yes, over SCIM 2.0, in a two-cent module. For the rest there is the API: an OpenAPI spec and signed outgoing events, which is what you would connect an ERP through if somebody built it. Ready-made there is nothing, and no integrations marketplace either.

Speakap

HR system sync on Premium, and an integrations marketplace with an open API on Premium Plus.

Single sign-on

Draw

Blastack

Single sign-on with the company account over OpenID Connect — Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace and Okta — plus SCIM 2.0 provisioning, so joiners and leavers arrive from your HR system on their own. It's the corporate identity module at two cents per person per month, not a reason to move you up a plan. There is no SAML, and that is a decision rather than a gap: SAML is signed XML, verifying it properly means XML canonicalisation, and that is where most of the authentication bypasses of the last decade have come from. If your tender requires SAML 2.0, we lose this row. Worth keeping the scope in mind either way: most of your workforce has no account in the corporate directory at all, so single sign-on covers the office and the joining codes cover the shop floor.

Speakap

Single sign-on on Premium and Active Directory connection on Premium Plus.

Certifications

Speakap

Blastack

None. We don't have ISO 27001 and we don't have SOC 2.

Speakap

They publish ISO 27001 certification of their information security management system and a SOC 2 Type II audit.

Your own domain

Speakap

Blastack

Not available. The platform lives at our address, with your logo and your colour inside it.

Speakap

Your own domain on the Premium Plus plan.

Where the data sits

Blastack

Blastack

Our own servers in the European Union, no transfers outside the EEA, with the GDPR Article 28 data processing agreement and the deletion deadlines in writing.

Speakap

Their website says data lives in either their European Union data centre or their United States one, with no transfers between the two. Ask them which one you'd land in, and get it in writing.

Documents and news with read receipts

Draw

Blastack

Read receipts with date and time, and a confirmed percentage of the active workforce. It's a three-cent module.

Speakap

Read confirmation on news is already included in their most basic plan.

How anonymity holds up in surveys

Blastack

Blastack

Published and checkable: answers stored with no link to the person, participation recorded without a timestamp, and the date rounded to the day.

Speakap

They have forms and surveys as a separate module; they don't publish how anonymity is held.

How you get started

Blastack

Blastack

Fifteen days, no card, no minimum term, and without talking to anyone if you'd rather not.

Speakap

A quote made to measure and a guided setup, which their website puts at about fifteen days from signature.

The Speakap figures come from what they publish on their own website — their pricing page, with the feature list for the Basic, Premium and Premium Plus plans, and their security and compliance page — checked on 25 August 2026. They change, and we are not a neutral source: check them with Speakap before you decide anything.

No spin

Where Speakap are better

If any of these three is what you need, go with them. We would rather lose here than six months in.

The app that makes a noise

A mobile app with your brand on it and alerts that make the phone ring, on every one of their plans. If what you have to solve is urgent communication — an emergency, a plant shutdown, a shift change with a day's notice — we don't cover that at all today and they do.

The floor with five nationalities

They machine-translate what you publish into more than a hundred languages. In a packing hall or a warehouse with five nationalities, that isn't one more feature: it's the difference between communicating and pinning up a notice half the room can't read. Blastack does no machine translation at all: whoever publishes writes each version by hand, or it doesn't get written.

The tender that asks for certifications and connectors

ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, SAML and your own domain. Single sign-on we do have now, but over OpenID Connect and not SAML, and the certifications we don't have at all. If your procurement team lists any of the rest as a requirement rather than a wish, the comparison ends here and it ends in their favour.

Our side

Where we win

Knowing what you'll pay before the call

They publish what each plan includes but not what it costs. We publish the figure, with a calculator that runs the same function that issues the real invoices. You can take the number to your board without having spoken to a salesperson.

A month, not a year

Their website says all contracts are annual, a year at minimum. Ours is monthly with no exit penalty. We do have an annual cycle too, and it works out cheaper — twelve months for the price of ten — but you pick it after you've tried the thing, not before: committing twelve months without knowing whether your workforce will actually use it is exactly what stalls these purchases.

Where the data ends up, with no "or" in it

Their documentation says data sits in either their European Union data centre or their United States one. Ours has no "either": servers in the European Union, no transfers outside the European Economic Area, and the retention and deletion deadlines written into the terms.

The summary

Which of the two, depending on your case

Choose Speakap if

  • You need alerts that make the phone ring for urgent communication
  • You need posts translated for you rather than writing one version per language
  • Your tender lists ISO 27001 or SOC 2 as a pass/fail requirement
  • Your tender requires SAML 2.0, or a connection to Active Directory, and won't accept OpenID Connect
  • You need your own domain and an own-brand app in the stores

Choose us if

  • You want the price published before you sit through a sales meeting
  • You don't want to commit to a year before you know whether people use it
  • You don't need posts translated for you: each person picks their language and you write the versions yourselves
  • Your legal team wants EU servers with no United States alternative in the contract
  • You want to start with one site this week, with no project plan and no bespoke quote
