Internal communications for hotel groups and chains

Housekeeping, reception, kitchen and maintenance, four timetables that never overlap and a headcount that doubles in season. Blastack puts the procedure and the notice on the phone, hotel by hotel and department by department.

What happens today

The four problems that keep coming up

Four trades that never overlap

Housekeeping starts at seven, reception changes at three and the kitchen lives on its own clock. What gets said at one handover doesn't reach the other three, and each head of department tells it their own way.

The season doubles the headcount

Eighty people join in April for five months. Nobody is setting up work email accounts for them, and with no account there is no channel.

What's the hotel's isn't the group's

A water outage in Cornwall means nothing in Glasgow. Sending everything to everyone is how you teach a workforce to read nothing.

Housekeeping never opens a computer

A room attendant does a full shift with a trolley and a key. If the channel isn't the phone, there is no channel.

Use cases

What it gets used for in Hotels

  • A notice to one hotel, or to the hotels in one region
  • Every hotel with its own name, logo, colour and home page
  • A general manager per hotel with a remit only over theirs: they see and manage their own team and no other
  • Cleaning or allergen procedures with read receipts, by department
  • Seasonal staff join with a code, no work email needed
  • Anonymous staff survey at the end of the season, hotel by hotel

What we don't solve

It isn't a PMS, it doesn't build the rota, and “hotel” isn't on the list

It doesn't allocate rooms, doesn't plan shifts, doesn't count hours and doesn't connect to your PMS or your HR system: it publishes the rota you already build somewhere else, it doesn't generate it. And one point of wording, because it always comes up: the word the product uses to label each house is picked from a closed list —site, head office, unit, branch, office— and “hotel” isn't on it yet. Each hotel's own name does appear exactly as you write it, in the menus, in the columns and on the notice.

Eighty people join for the season. Now they join with a code and on day one they already have their department's procedure.
