Blastack

Bus and passenger transport

Internal communications for bus and coach operators

The driver pulls out of the depot and doesn't see an office again all day. Blastack gets the diversion, the duty change and the procedure onto their phone before they start, and keeps a record of who has read it.

What happens today

The four problems that keep coming up

The driver never goes through the office

They sign on, take the vehicle and go. Any channel that depends on them sitting at a computer doesn't exist for half the workforce.

A diversion is no use once they've left

A road closure, roadworks or a moved stop flagged at mid-morning already arrives late: the duty went out at six.

The depot noticeboard

It gets read if you walk past and happen to look. Nobody knows whether the night shift has seen it, and at a ten o'clock sign-on there is nobody to ask.

Procedures you have to evidence

What to do about an assault, an accident or a breakdown. If it ends up in front of the Traffic Commissioner or in court, you have to be able to show that the instruction went out, and when.

Use cases

What it gets used for in Passenger transport

  • Closure or diversion notice targeted at one route or one depot
  • Incident procedure with a read receipt
  • Rota and duty changes published where drivers already look
  • Incident report with a photo, with the vehicle stopped
  • Anonymous survey by depot, so you know what happens on nights
  • Directory with the traffic manager for each depot

What we don't solve

It doesn't schedule duties and it doesn't replace your operations system

It doesn't plan services, it doesn't allocate drivers, it doesn't count hours and it doesn't connect to your AVL or your ticketing system. And two things are worth saying plainly in this sector: it is read with the vehicle stopped, never at the wheel, and with no signal there is nothing to read until the phone picks up again.

Drivers had the diversion before they left the depot. With the noticeboard that depended on somebody looking.
