Blastack

Manufacturing and industry

Internal communications for manufacturing sites

Rotating shifts, a workforce with no computer, and safety notices that have to be evidenced in writing. Blastack puts the message on the operator's phone before they clock in.

What happens today

The four problems that keep coming up

The noticeboard by the entrance

The notice goes up on a cork board and gets read if you happen to walk past it. Nobody knows how many people on nights have seen it.

Health and safety with nothing to show for it

A change to the lifting procedure has to reach everybody, and under the Health and Safety at Work Act you have to be able to show that it did.

Three shifts, three versions

What gets said at the morning handover never reaches the afternoon or the night shift, and every supervisor tells it their own way.

A WhatsApp group for every line

Set up by the supervisors themselves, with company information sitting on personal phones and nobody controlling any of it.

Use cases

What it gets used for in Manufacturing

  • Line stoppage notice sent only to the site affected
  • Safety procedure with a read receipt and a timestamp
  • Anonymous engagement survey by shift, so you know what happens on nights
  • Shift calendar and shift changes on the phone
  • Recognition between people working the same line

What we don't solve

We don't sell screens for the shop floor

Everything runs through the browser on a phone. If you have stations where the phone stays in the locker, there are competitors who will fit a touchscreen in the changing room and we won't. We don't replace your production system or the shift report either: what we cover is the communication, not the process.

We used to pin the notice up and hope. Now I know the night shift has read it, and I know who hasn't.
